I am thankful that my King, my Lord, my God has conquered the grave and saved me from the hell I deserve!

So congratulations to Francis for completing his 40 Days, 40 Songs project! It motivated me to write a song as well, which I did back in February. It expresses my distress when considering the Lenten season, not necessarily what it stands for, but what it has become. The menial things we give up (like cheeseburgers or facebook) and/or the instantaneous turnaround (hooray, Easter! I can jerk off again!) make the entire practice seem somewhat hollow. I began asking myself, how does this aid my spiritual growth? my walk with Christ? how can my sacrifice honor what He sacrificed for me?

Of course, none of us are perfect. Often our intentions are decent but the purpose is wrong, or we simply just go through the motions that we’ve always gone through since we were 8. Yet that’s why we need to frequently, earnestly, prayerfully seek His word. Because He died so that we may be saved. Some of us just refuse to believe that it’s a gift.

So yeah. Lend me your ears and your thoughts. Still a rough edit, so don’t be too harsh. HAPPY EASTER!!

/edit. I screwed up. Go to http://www.myspace.com/ronlory :P
